I was invited for the robotics conference most important conference of robotics in business “RoboBusiness” in Milan on 30th April in the session: “robotics enabling technology, platforms and standards”
In my talk I will talk about my last project “4UDE” and my robotics application with use ROS with the title “Smart robotics – Easy way to build a new robot for all kind of applications.”
The abstract of talk is:
In the last ten years the technology about embedded electronics has been quickly improved, thanks to the marketing of new linux compact boards. The birth of open source Robot Operative System (ROS), five years ago, contributed to the interaction among communities, universities and industries. ROS is a framework to develop robotics software and provides a set of facilitating tools and of ready-to-use programs and applications.
Nowadays, thanks to ROS and “Internet of Things”, it’s possible to build a robot quite quickly and to have all information related available in real-time on smartphones and tablets.
This talk is mainly focused on the flexibility of new embedded linux boards and the use of ROS to develop a new robot for all kind of purposes (applications).
Will be presented the robotic platform “4UDE” that is an example of integration of new technologies and standards in robotics; this robot is based on the technology NVIDIA Jetson TK1 and, for this reason, was invited to the conference GTC15.
Infact, this board, which is the core of the robot, receives data from 3D-point cloud sensor and interacts with the environment.
